Hailstorms In Minnesota Have Homeowners Seeking Roofing Services After Deadly Tornadoes

Minnesota Residents Urged To Check Contractors’ Credentials

Last week in Minnesota, hailstorms have many people looking for a reputable roofing contractor for their homes.  The thunderstorms produced widespread large hail damage in several counties.  Property owners should be advised to use caution when selecting a contractor, as there are unfortunately a lot of unscrupulous people trying to take advantage of an emergency situation out there.  Be aware of door-to-door salesmen who offer a “one time only” special pricing.  You should not be rushed into making a decision.

Contact a Minnesota roofing contractor to assist you in making that decision.  Get professional help to rebuild homes that have had wind/hail damage, or any other type of exterior damage that may have been caused by this wind and hailstorm.  They will inform you of the damage done to your home, assist you with your insurance claim, and provide quality workmanship and promptness in the process of repairing your wind or hail damaged roofing, siding, window, or structural remodeling needs.

If you live in this area of Minnesota and have a wind or hail damaged roof, siding, or any other exterior damage as a result of the storm, contact a professional roofer as soon as possible.

Minnesota was left in a bad shape after a series of tornadoes ripped through the area.  The storms went wild forcing several homes, trees, and power lines to the ground.

There were 10 reported tornado touchdown reports filed with the NOAA within Minnesota.

Minnesota Insurance Claim experts can help you identify and repair damage to hail damaged roofs, siding, gutters windows and other exterior home components.

Need Help With Roof Repairs?

Roof Repairs

When your roof goes through a bad storm or you’ve had your home for a number of years it may be time for you to think about doing some repairs.  If there is excessive damage it might be necessary to have the shingles replaced, but if there is only minor damage repairs can be performed that will stop your roof from leaking the next time it rains.

When you plan on doing something like that, though, you have to do it right, or you could do more damage to your roof instead of fixing it.  Quite often, it is a broken or missing shingle that’s causing the leaking.  If you have a flat roof, there can be a cracked or blistered area that is allowing water to get in.  The most difficult part of fixing a leak on a roof is finding where the leak is originating.  You also have to remember that it can be very dangerous to work on a roof, especially if it has a steep pitch.  You’ll want to be careful that you don’t fall off of the roof and injure yourself, and also that you don’t damage the roof.

When repairing a shingle roof, you can usually locate the area that’s causing a problem.  Look near the leak point for damaged or missing shingles, and also look closely where any rooflines meet or where there are vents or chimneys.  All of these are potential problem areas, especially if there are leaves or other debris there that would hold water and allow it to build up.  If there aren’t any areas that are clearly causing a problem, calling in a professional would be the best choice.

If you find shingles that are curled back you can reattach them with asphalt roof cement and a caulking gun. If shingles are brittle you’ll want to heat them up first so that you can bend them without breaking.  If there are shingles that are torn, rotted, or completely missing they should be replaced instead of patched, because they likely won’t seal well if you just try to fix them.  Make sure that you seat new shingles properly, that you wear rubber-soled shoes so that you don’t slip, and that you use a safety rope if the roof is very steep.  Also, be very aware of the location of power lines any time you’re working on a roof to avoid serious and potentially deadly accidents.

Let LEI Fix Your Leaking Roof Right Now!

One of the most typical reasons for damage to your home is accredited to water.  Leaks of all sorts are frequent across the life of a structure.  From plumbing to weather, water takes its toll in regularly sophisticated and unnoticed fashion, until there is a problem.

Most houses that need leaky roof repair may remain unseen for a time.   Your house can suffer the major and pricey results of water damage if these events are left unrepaired.  Leaky roof repair should be on the head of the list the moment you see evidence of a difficulty.

Finding the exact place where the roof is leaking can often be a challenge.  You may also want to go outside and have a look at the outside of the roof.  If anything appears to be strange, like a wrinkle, buckle or missing pieces, you have most likely found the source of the issue.

The main consideration for deciding not to make the repairs yourself is not economics – it is safety.  Roofing is a risky business that is best left to the pros at Langerman Exteriors. Do not let this go untreated.  It won’t correct itself!

LEI is ready to help with any exterior repair or installation you may be dealing with.  We can handle everything with the insurance company from claim filing to final sign off.  Our insurance claim process is complete and efficient.  Call us for a free inspection of your property

Full Service Contractor For Fire, Water, and Hail Damage In Minnesota

Finding a Minnesota fire, water, or hail damage contractor to help evaluate the damage to your property is crucial to the success of your project, because you want the best for your roof.  You want a company that is honest, will do their job when they say they will do it, and will provide you with the options that you need to have the best for your roof possible.

So how do you find the best fire, water, or hail damage contractor in Minnesota?  Well, here are some things that you want to look for:

You need a Minnesota fire, water, or hail damage contractor who will be able to inspect your roof and adequately tell you what is wrong with it.  This means not telling you that you need a new roof when all you need is repairs. You want honesty.  The contractor needs to be more about doing a good job than trying to make the money.

You want options in roofing materials.  This means that you should be able to decide the roofing type that you want.  However, you want a roofing material that will stand up to the next hailstorm and not cause you to have to have repairs again.  For instance, you should be able to ask the Minnesota hail damage contractor about Class 4 roofing.  This is the closest to hail resistant as you are going to get.  You can then discuss prices and make your decision from there.

All-in-all, what you choose is also based on certain areas that concern you the most.  Fortunately, you do not have to go too far to find a fire, water, or hail damage contractor in Minnesota.  Call Langerman Exteriors at 763-493-0058 and have your property damage taken care of as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Saving Energy Means Saving Money With Energy Efficient Doors and Windows

Energy Saving Doors and Windows From LEI

Before you learn how energy efficient windows can save you money on energy bills, it is a good idea to understand exactly how your old windows are losing heat energy.

Heat energy escapes four ways out the windows.

1) Conduction
When warm inside air hits the glass and frame of the window, heat energy is transferred molecule-to-molecule through the window material, gradually warming it up.  When cold air from the outside touches the warm material, some heat is transferred to the air and carried away in the wind, like soup getting cooler when you blow on it.

2) Convention
Warm air rises and cool air falls.  This is as true in the space between the panes of glass in a double paned window as it is everywhere else.  This transfer of heat from the bottom of the window to the top of the window means the bottom of the window is constantly cooler and is therefore drawing more heat from the air inside the house.

3) Air Leakage
Ill fitting windows with bad seals and cracked caulking allows air to pass between the window frame, the glass, and the wall.  Since warm air will always flow into an area with cooler air, windows that leak will allow air from inside the house to flow out and be lost.

4) Radiation
Heat travels through the air from any hot source in the form of infrared and ultraviolet radiation.  This radiation passes through regular glass, heating air and objects on the other side.  This means that windows act as large portals through which heat inside the house can radiate out.

When shopping for new energy efficient windows, it is important to find out how they address all four methods of heat loss.  At Langerman Exteriors Inc, we install only the very best windows on the market.  You will recover the cost of this investment on energy savings in no time.

What Makes a Quality Vinyl Siding?

Beauty Vinyl siding provides enduring beauty and design flexibility.  Using a variety of siding and soffit styles, colors, accessories and trim, you can update any place.  You can update a ranch, add character to a colonial home, or even re-create a Victorian style home.  You can select one that will be consistent with your home’s design and fit right into the environment.

Durability Vinyl siding is now the #1 siding material available.  And with good reason!  Nothing beats vinyl siding for sheer endurance.  Unlike many other materials, it is impervious to rain, cold, salt and snow.  It will not rot, peel, dent or show scratches, nor will it ever need painting.  A simple soap and water rinse once a year is all that is necessary to remove dirt and maintain the look.

Value Vinyl siding is a great investment for any home.  Re-siding a home is among the top 10 remodeling projects in terms of overall payback.  In addition, if you re-side with vinyl, you can often recoup 100% or more of your investment.  Of course, that is if you pick Langerman Exteriors Inc.
